The Harraton ('The Brave Bold Men of Cotia') banner was commissioned in 2005. Members of the community were involved in painting part of the banner at the Welfare. The banner depicts two Harraton miners, Jack Elliot and Jock Purdon, who upheld the Mining Folk Music tradition. The banner was unveiled at Fatfield Miners' Welfare by MP Tony Benn, with singer songwriter Billy Bragg also performing at the event. It regularly attends the Durham Miners' Gala. When not in use, the banner is on display at the Durham Mining Association's headquarters at Redhills.
